Happy Labor day

Monday is labor day and I don't plan on doing JACK!

I have been driving myself right into the funny farm and its

time to relax.

Of course, I usually don't get much relaxing in because I always have

to be doing something, so I think I plant my carcass into my easy chair

with MAC in hand and try to learn some new tricks.

Here is one of them:

http://www.winehq.org/

This webside has a product from open source that lets you run some windows

applications on the mac without a virtual pc instalation.

Thas cool. I have got to figure out out to set it up and get it running.

http://www.winehq.org/site/why

This tells us why wine is important, and some of it is that it gets around the

Microsoft monopoly. Windows programs, windows O.S.? but now it seems

that there is a better way. Time will tell.

video mixer

trying to figure out the best way to mix 2 computers running backgrounds on 1 text on the other, overlay them both and then plit the signals to the screens for a compilation of both on the one set and just one on the other...phew thats a mouthfull.
I found a very expensive option (in my opiniom its expensive) but it does everything we want it to. I found it here:
here are some pics of it.

proprenter tricks

I have tried a new trick in propresenter that helps out as we use two computers because we don’t have the high tech video switching system that is in use at the mega churches. So that means we need to try and keep some sort of synchronization between the two computer outputs happening. We use backgrounds with lyrics on the twin screens and just backgrounds on the big screen. so being it is mainly backgrounds on the one screen, I set up a presentation like if it were a song. each slide in the “song” is then linked to the background que and labeled what it is. ie verse - salvation is here, chorus-salvation is here etc. laying out the entire order of service in front of me in que’s and then as an added bonus, assigning hot keys to “key elements” so at to be able to nail them by pressing just a key on the keyboard. this works with video backgrounds, video presentations, pictures, whatever. and if you use the same hot key assignments for both computers, you can have the same operator hit the hot key on both keyboards at the same time to sync up the drastically changing backgrounds so they flow together as if they were running on the same computer.

Well hopefully this will be of help to someone. Just because your church can’t afford the high tech, doesn’t mean you can look as if you are high tech. the program does a great job for churches on a budget.

Macs just work

It was around Late winter early spring last year that I bought me one of these...

Every morning, I check my e-mail, every evening, I do something creative on it. and the best part is, I Don't spend 85% of my time trying to get it to work, run maintenance on it, get virus definitions, check for updates, try to get rid of virus' and other nastiness that slow the thing down to a crawl. Just not needed with a mac. My mac is one that I bought from apple store and is refurbished, Apple's online store cost $300 more than a PC, but, I don't spend $70 annually for virus programs and security suites, I didn't have to spend $$$ to but a movie editing program that would go obsolete within a month of purchasing it, I didn't have to go get a video capturing devise for more $$$. Macs' already come with all of that. So if you add up what comes with a mac vs what comes with a PC (lately just a PC, and a buggy O.S.); the Mac is actually more fiscally responsible. So don't let the cheapness of a PC fool you, you always always get what you paid for, and many times it is less. It's like buying a pair of fake name brand shoes and wondering why they lasted only 5 months, where when you spend twice the price for a quality pair and they last you 2 to 3 years. do the math, greed blinds us into thinking that something cheap is a great value just because its cheap, but garbage by any other name is still garbage whether its a PC, shoes, clothes or just about anything you can get at a discount mart no matter what the name of the over advertised store may be. It's like eating a fast food burger, made mostly out of stuff we would throw out if we were cooking at home. We need to wake up and remember that A good product DOESN'T need to be advertised or will use just minimal advertising, it's quality will sell it by word of mouth advertisers on the other hand make money by making you believe a line that has only some truth in it and the rest is over dramatization.
