more on lightscribe

100 Pack HP LightScribe 4.7GB 16x DVD-R Media
As low As $0.43 each shipped
Free Ground Shipping

Free shipping is a added benifit at this company, for certain items, but at least they offer 100 pack cd's. the main company I have used in the past did not free ship anything, so to calculate value it must be taken into consideration the shipping cost as well. The above company also is the one offering the 1 to 8 cd dvd duplication tower with lightscribe for $715. and that is very tempting. will need to consider this more as we try and streamline the process so as to be able to make the sermon cd's available as quickly as possible for our guests at OVCC.

lightscribe tower

If I had the bread, I would buy this for the church's cd / dvd duplication needs. It is currently priced at $715.00 and does 8 at a time. pretty cool, also will duplicate the light scribe label that is on the master.

Chris wrote about twittering at his blog, check it out HERE, I have just started twittering and it is great. It is like instant messaging but to your blog, with the possibility of a copy of what you just wrote going to as many of your friends who also may want to follow you. You also follow your friends and you can jot ideas, things that just pop into your head (some may just be inspirational) or just what you are doing. Your friends care about what you do and say as much as you care about them and this is just another way to stay connected, informed and best of all, In Prayer for your friends, family and leaders. If God brings one of your leaders to mind, twitter a prayer for him or her, God knows our thoughts, but our friends don't, and as we pray for one another through this means, it just may spark one of our friends to pray with us as well, Bringing up to the Father a need that He wants to meet in their lives, or a situation that only He can help prevent, but won't unless asked to. James tells us that We have not because we ask not. Hopefully I can start something here that will benefit all of us as we call upon Gods grace and mercy for our elders, friends and family. Doesn't even have to be long or specific, When God brings to your mind someone, say  or twitter a quick prayer for them, who knows, It may be just what they needed.

Hmm, I can't seem to log into twitter. Drag. I think that with all of its sudden popularity, it must have crashed or something. Hopefully the problem will be resolved soon

lightscribe duplicators

I would have to say that the arguments for a lightscribe system are very encouraging. I found this CD/DVD duplication tower on line at google shopping and the price seems to be reasonable as well. This is a 1 to 8 tower that doesn't need a computer hooked up to it to work. What it does ( what it does is taken from the brief reading that is on the webpage) I have Placed here:

What Lightscribe is
Lightscribe is an innovative technology that uses a special disc drive, special media, and label-making software to burn labels directly onto CDs and DVDs.

Because the labels are laser-etched-not printed-there's no ink, no smudging, and no peeling.

Your labels can be whatever you want them to be. Create one-of-a-kind designs with your own photos, text, and artwork or choose from the many free backgrounds provided using the special edition Template Labeler software included with every Lightscribe capable duplicator. You may also visit LightScribe's Template Label Gallery, or the Label Gallery for free downloadable designs.

How Lightscribe Works:

1. Burn the image label you created from the saved file on your computer onto a CD. (Please note that the Lightscribe software is only compatible with a PC and not recognized on an Apple computer)
2. Place that CD into the reader drive of the SharkCopier LS duplicator.
3. Load Lightscribe capable discs with the label side down in all of the writer drives.
4. Using the menu on the duplicator's LCD, choose and execute the "Print" function.
5. Burn your Lightscribe label directly onto the discs in all the writer drives at the same time.
6. Remember, the same drive that burns your label burns your data, too.

Benefits Of Lightscribe Duplicator:
The SharkCopier LS allows the user to both copy data, audio or video files onto the data side of recordable CD's or DVD's, but also can print directly onto the label side of Lightscribe capable CD's and DVD's. This is all done in a single standalone manual tower duplicator where all the drives will print or duplicate simultaneously for a faster superior end product. All of this is done without the need to connect to a PC, refill ink cartridges/thermal ribbon, or a masters degree in mechanical engineering. The SharkCopier LS is so easy to use and offers such exceptional print and duplication quality, that anyone can use one!

Sounds good!

Being that this is a standalone system, it can be placed at the welcome center and any sermons past or present (that have already been burned using lightsctribe can be duplicated on demand at the time that the requestor is wanting them. I can see where this would save us a lot of time and money and make a better use of the resources that God has given us.

lightscribe and cd duplication

Out of curiosity I did some research on the lightscribe technology and whether or not it would look and or do us good in the production environment at church, What I did find was that it takes up to 30 minutes to burn a label. YIKES! as many disks as we go through that would not work.

We currently are using a thermal printer which is slow, but gives a permanent label that looks good.

The inkjet ones look good as well, but how permanent is the ink?

We eventually will be needing to upgrade or replace what we are using as the equipment is showing the warning signs of wearing out and may start to give us trouble but for now until a better system can be found, It will have to hold together.

I like the look of light scribe, I just wish it was faster (It runs at 1x), so graphically intense labels will take forever to print.

Lightscribe is still fairly new though so I can only hope that as the lasers evolve, they will get faster and better.

I found this image on line of how lightscribe labeled disks can look, It is nice, I just wish that it didn't take 30 minuites to work.

In Matthew 5:3-12; Jesus does what is called the Sermon on the mound, aka the beatitudes.

the basics are something that we must remember in order to be at peace in Christ and with ourselves. Synopsis…If you want something give it away, this is how we gain the stuff that is most important. Money can't buy happiness, Generosity to others, kindness to those who may not deserve kindness, Love to those who may not be loveable, these things we give away and receive back from God in abundance. You want to be happy, make others Happy and God will make your heart glad. Need encouragement?, give encouragement to others and be more encouraged yourself, need money? be generous and let God supply your needs (ouch that’s a hard one ain't it). In the same measure that we give that is how we receive from God. If we are stingy, He will be stingy with us, but if we are generous, he also will be generous with us, and even more so.

3"You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

4"You're blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.

5"You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought.

6"You're blessed when you've worked up a good appetite for God. He's food and drink in the best meal you'll ever eat.

7"You're blessed when you care. At the moment of being 'care-full,' you find yourselves cared for.

8"You're blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.

9"You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family.

10"You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom.

11-12"Not only that—count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give a cheer, even!—for though they don't like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.

ProPresenter and the presentation display settings

I use ProPresenter on my Macbook at home using Apple's OS X tiger, yah I know, I should upgrade to leopard but bread is scarce lately. Anyway, I use it at home to test with, learn with and get a better understanding of how it works and what are the best ways for presenting with it so that I can help make the presentation environment even better for the weekend audience at church whenever possible, at least for myself and the production crew. The hundred or so volunteers that we have at the Orchard do an awesome job at serving and making the guests feel welcome and helping them see Gods love through us. It is so cool to see God working through ordinary people. It has been said that God doesn't call the gifted to serve, but gifts those He has called. So fear not is a good term to remember, because if God has called you to do something for Him, remember that He will supply you with the tools, knowledge, or whatever else is needed to accomplish what He has for you to do; We need to trust that He will and that We can.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I hooked up my Mac book into the LCD TV at home through the VGA port on the TV and was a little disappointed at first as the resolution was real small, but then I went into the preferences and pushed "full screen", what this did was allow the program to view the resolution settings that the Mac book had for the TV that was connected and assign that resolution to ProPresenter so that the displayed results would be best. it was really cool. I can know put DVDs in the computer and watch them at maximum resolution and they looked great. I also found that the Provideo (a part of ProPresenter) does a much better job at DVDs than does the DVD player that comes with the mac.
So if you want to try and adjust your settings for ProPresenter, first make sure that your Mac is setup so that it is sending the correct resolution to the projector. I plugged my mack into the TV and pressed the detect displays button and the Mac set itself up to the correct resolution of the TV I was connected to. I could only hope that a projection system using VGA inputs would be able to be auto detected, otherwise it may be best to check your documentation that came with the projector to see what the recommended settings are. My mac and ProPresenter found that the optimal resolution settings on the TV I was using is 1366 x 768. (DPI) The High definition settings are 480i but I don't think that the mac uses the newer high def standards for displays yet. I bet that if these settings are better, then the future updates will allow you to set you monitor adjustments by the high definition range. I still do not quite grasp just what 480i means but the TV settings tell me to set my HDMI to that and being I don't have anything that hooks up by HDMI I won't worry about that for know, although I have read that many new computers and monitors will be hooking up together via HDMI so maybe when that happens, the meaning of the 480i will be more clear. I will have to research that and see. I have a few techno-savey friends that work in the help desk that could probably explain that a little more clearly. If I find out more about this newer standard I will blog it.
